Separate what you saved from what you will request

Picture arriving at a station with a weak connection. Reading the hotel address you entered yesterday is a local task. Finding a nearby café you have never searched for is a new request. A planner can do the first reliably without promising the second.

In Nowhop’s current development build, your local plans and saved walking history do not depend on a Nowhop account server. Available public building and road geometry is cached separately. This cache is not a complete download of every Apple map service for a country.

What to expect from each part of the day

Nowhop development behavior, not an offline navigation guarantee
TaskWithout a connection
Read saved plansLocal dates, places, stays and transfers remain available.
Review recorded walksExisting personal records remain on the phone; available cached geometry can be drawn.
Record a new walkCan continue when iOS supplies usable location updates and permission allows it.
Search or view a new placeApple place search and Look Around may require a connection.
Calculate a new routeDo not assume a fresh directions estimate is available offline.

Apple Maps downloads are a separate preparation step

Apple’s offline-map guide explains how to download an area in its Maps app, see the file size and manage saved areas. Availability varies by region. Prepare the area you will actually need while you have a connection.

That describes Apple’s Maps app. It does not establish that Nowhop inherits every downloaded area or offline service. Treat the Nowhop cache and your Apple Maps download as separate preparations, and open both before leaving.

A short check before you go

  1. Save the correct dates, accommodation address and booked transfers in Plan.
  2. Open the day route while online and check the order of your stops.
  3. Confirm the relevant area is available in the navigation app you intend to use.
  4. Open saved plans and records without a connection, somewhere familiar.
  5. Keep essential booking confirmations in the original booking app or another accessible copy.

A missing connection should not erase your plans. It can still prevent a new search. Background recording also depends on iOS, device conditions and permissions; an offline test does not prove uninterrupted GPS collection.
